It's estimated that we throw away over one billion batteries in the UK every year. The majority of these are regular alkaline (primary cell) batteries, of which it's calculated that only 3% are currently being recycled. The bulk of the remaining 97% are still being disposed of in general household waste and typically end up in land-fill sites. Batteries contain some pretty nasty chemicals and so these little toxic time-bombs are just buried away, slowly leaching their chemicals into the environment.
We know that rechargeable batteries cost a fair bit more but they can be used over and over, saving you money, whilst reducing waste and cutting the environmental impact of disposable batteries.

This little unit from Souvenir Cranwell isn't really a charger. It can't be used with rechargeable Ni-Cd or Ni-MH batteries, so why buy it?
The answer is simple.
This device can keep regular single use 'primary cell' batteries going for up to fifteen times their normal life by regenerating them. Use it on any alkaline AA or AAA batteries to keep them at full capacity. Regeration of alkaline primary cells works best if there's still a bit of life left in them, so try not to let them run out completely before popping them in the regenerator for a top-up.
