The stated length of 58mm is quite compact for a dimmable LED GU10, making it suitable for installation in a broad range of fittings, although it is unlikely to fit into a designs using a circlip to retain the lamp.

Cree 9W 12V MR16 LED 480lm Spot (Warm White)

These MR16 LED spotlights manufactured by Leder incorporate 3 x 3 Watt Cree LED modules and claim an impressive 480 lumen output, making them equivalent to a standard 40 Watt incandescent lamp. With a beam angle of 45 degrees and a stated Warm White colour temperature of 3,000k, they should be a reasonably good match for replacing halogen MR16 lamps in a wide range of applications, including general lighting. Although the seller describes these LED lamps as a straight swap for ordinary halogen MR16 lamps, it may be necessary to change the low voltage transformer if the existing unit does not produce a stable 12 volt supply at lower loads.

Once again, this seller is describing these lamps as having a 50,000 hour lumen maintenance period. None of the branded manufacturers are making claims of such long life, so we'd advise against taking this figure seriously. This is our latest MR16 LED spotlight. It still uses the industry-leading CREE MC-E LED module, but the unique finned heatsink design allows the module to be driven to 7w, generating even more light than our 4w lamps with a very wide beam. It's easily a match for a standard 50w halogen MR16 lamp, which it should outlast up to twenty five times over. This Warm White version has a wide 120 degree fixed beam of light, similar to an ordinary tungsten halogen MR16 lamp. It is a straight swap for an ordinary halogen MR16 lamp, although it may be necessary to change the low voltage transformer if the existing unit does not produce a stable 12 volt supply at lower loads.

Auraglow 7w B22 LED Light Bulb 450lm Warm White

The specification and price of these 7 Watt LED bulbs from Auraglow make them a realistic alternative to CFL lamps which are notoriously slow to start and quick to fade. Don't be fooled by the orange appearance of this lamp when not illuminated, there's a very good reason for this. The orange diffuser serves to promote an authentic warm white light output which increases in warmth as the lamp is dimmed - something that other dimmable lamps have previously failed to achieve.

These minimalist design downlights are complete fittings, incorporating a solid powder coated aluminium lamp body, LED emitter, heatsink, and external 240v mains powered low voltage 320mA DC driver. The 7W 240v LED downlight uses a standard 4-way CREE MC-E module, but the large heatsink design allows the LED emitter to be driven harder for an equivalent standard halogen lamp output of over 70 Watts, yet uses only a fraction of the electricity to run and will outlast up to twenty five standard halogen GU10 lamps. This Cool White model is supplied fitted with a wide 120 degree clear lens for a focused, crisp beam of clean natural light without the slightest hint of blue for a modern hi-tech look more suited to daylight applications. A frosted lens is available as an optional accessory.

These frosted 100 degree lenses produce a wider beam, which is softer in appearance. If you are troubled by 'chromatic fringing' at the edges of the lit area, a frosted lens will reduce this effect. The beam lens retaining ring is reasonably easy to remove by hand, by rotating it anti-clockwise. If you're lacking in the finger-nail department or a bit worried about getting it wrong, this simple tool will fit into the two slots for effortless removal.

Please make sure that you do not 'cross-thread' or over tighten the retaining ring when replacing it. Lamp, lens and retaining ring not included.
