If your gas meter is not compatible with the meter reader, your supplier should be willing to replace it with a newer 'pulse type' meter as part of the preparations for the 2020 Smart Metering rollout.

The SaveOmeter gas meter reader and transmitter has a 12 year lithium battery. The reader links with your existing SaveOmeter transmitter and sends information to the display. Your SaveOmeter display can be calibrated so that both the display and gas meter show the same readings. With the gas meter reader connected, your SaveOmeter display will show:

Cost of gas this month
Total cost of gas since last reset
Gas meter readings

The two accumulated totals are independent of each other and resetting the total gas figure each time you receive a gas bill will allow you to keep track of you gas costs between bills with no nastly surprises.
