If your heating system is oil-fired and you don't already have one of these incredibly useful monitors, order one today. The system is in two parts. One half is fitted to your oil tank and sends a signal to the other half plugged into a socket - prehaps somewhere prominent in the kitchen - with a display showing approximately how much oil is left in the tank.

This system is the same as the monitor only version but with the added benefit of an alarm. The alarm sounds if there is a sudden drop in oil level, alerting the householder to the all too real possibility of oil theft. The tranmitter is battery operated and has a 200m range. The batteries in the transmitter should last around three years between changes.
