The Owl brand
Owl are the leading manufacturer of wireless electricity monitors for the UK market. They launched their first model, the Owl CM113 in September 2007. This model was basically a re-branded Electrisave, which had previously been the first UK wireless energy monitor, dating back to 2005. The Owl CM113 continued as the best selling monitor in the UK until late 2008, when it was retired and replaced with the new and improved Owl CM119. In Autumn 2010 Owl released their latest wireless energy monitor, the Owl CM160 USB. This new model builds on the successful formula of the previous CM119, adding a two year data memory, built-in PC connectivity via USB, and Economy 10 compatibility. The new Owl CM160 USB also sees the return of a facility to display the live throughput as Amps, a popular feature of the original CM113 which was missing from the CM119 design.
New features
Just like the original and extremely successful Owl CM113 and CM119, the new Owl CM160 helps reduce electricity consumption in the home by enabling you to see exactly how much you are spending through an easy to read portable monitor unit. By seeing the immediate impact in pence per hour of replacing standard light bulbs with low-energy ones, switching off unnecessary devices throughout the home, etc. you are naturally motivated to save energy. New features for the Owl CM160 include a 30 day data storage function with one minute resolution, both Economy 7 & 10 compatibility and an easier to read display. The link between transmitter and receiver remains as rock-solid and robust as we've come to expect from Owl, quite simply the best there is.
Easy to connect
The wireless display unit is fed via a simple to fit transmitter which clips around your electricity supply. You set up The Owl by telling it how much your electricity supplier charges per kilowatt hour from your most recent bill.
Potentially save up to 25%
During field trials in the product development phase, some users reportedly achieved savings of an impressive 25%. The objective is to reduce your ‘base level’ electricity consumption, which is the amount you are using at night when the household is sleeping and also perhaps during the daytime when the home may be unoccupied. The Owl may reveal some startling information about running costs of your 24/7 appliances like fridge/freezers, pond pumps and all those smaller items powered by DC mains adaptors. By making a few small changes to your electricity useage habits you may well find that you can save hundreds of pounds. Remember that you only have to reduce your background electricity consumption by 1p per hour to save over £85 each year.
Owl CM160 USB Wireless Energy Monitor
NEW MODEL OWL CM160 - NOW WITH BUILT IN USB!
Owl wireless energy monitors have been the UK's top selling monitor brand since their launch back in 2007 and that success looks set to continue with their latest model, the Owl CM160 USB. Externally, there is very little obvious difference between the CM160 and the older CM119, except for the improved and easier to read display. This is reassuring to note, because Owl monitors are renowned for their superior build quality, accuracy, amazing battery life and tenacious wireless link between transmitter and receiver.
Launched in September 2010, the Owl CM160 USB is their most advanced model. Building on the success of the previous Owl CM119, the new Owl CM160 now adds built-in data storage for up to two years electricity use, a USB port (cable and software included), plus Economy 7 AND Economy 10 multiple tariff compatibility. With these new advanced features, you'd expect a considerable price-hike, but the Owl CM160 RRP is only £5 more than the basic CM119 - about the cost of a USB cable on its own, and don't forget, the Owl CM160 USB still includes all the best-selling features of the older CM119!

Owl Micro II (mk2) CM180 Wireless Energy Monitor
The Micro is Owl's entry-level energy monitor. It has proven popular with households seeking a low-cost, simple to use, no-frills device to keep an eye on their electricity use - without skimping on quality. It has a clear, easy to read display.
Owl have completely redesigned the Micro for 2012 and added a host of new functions, whilst maintaining a low purchase price. We particularly like the new daily cumulative use graph, which enables you to see at a glance how much electricity has been used so far today. A simple history function provides the facility to compare use over previous days, weeks and months so you can easily see if you are managing to reduce consumption over time.
The new Owl Micro CM180 may be small, but it has a good pedigree so you can rely upon it to have an excellent transmission range, long battery life and class-leading accuracy.

Owl CM119 Wireless Energy Monitor
Without a doubt, the original Owl was the UK's best-selling and most widely recognised wireless energy monitor. It had excellent build quality, produced figures you can trust, had amazing battery life and a tenacious wireless link between transmitter and receiver.
Updated in Autumn 2008 from the original best seller, the Owl CM119 adds a new integrated cumulative memory feature, greater accuracy, Economy 7 multiple tariff compatibility, three selectable transmitter channels and a staggering estimated four year battery life on the transmitter unit.
If you're certain that you won't be needing the USB connectivity of the newer Owl CM160, the CM119 makes a good alternative choice with a lower purchase price.

Owl CM120 USB Connect
The Owl CM120 USB Connect receiver turns your Windows PC into a sophisticated real-time electricity monitoring system. Working in conjunction with your existing Owl CM119, Owl Micro* or CM113 (original Owl) transmitter, the USB Connect receives the same data as your display unit and relays the information on your PC in real-time at six second intervals using the supplied software. The software allows you to 'drill down' into the stored data through years, months, days and hours and you can even review your electricity use on a minute-by-minute level, if required. The software provides the facility to export the stored data on your PC as a comma separated variable (.csv) file for independent analysis.
Please note that the USB Connect receiver contains no internal memory or power supply. It is powered via the PC's USB socket and the PC software will record received data only while your computer and program are both running. Compatible with Windows XP and Vista. *Compatibility with Owl Micro requires a download the latest USB Connect software version from the manufacturer's website.

The original Owl wireless electricity monitor.
Since the discontinuation of the very popular Electrisave in the UK, the product was re-branded as The Owl and distributed by 2 Save Energy Ltd. The rebranded Owl CM113 monitor was identical to the original Electrisave in every respect, save for the RRP. The Owl CM113 energy monitor RRP was a full £50 less than it's predecessor. This massive reduction in price kick-started the UK energy monitor market.
You may still find these older monitors for sale from time to time. They are a good, basic, reliable system.
