Introducing the Wattson 01 from DIY Kyoto.  This is the energy monitor designed with passion for people who demand the best from their technology.  Its an energy monitor, but it's also really cool.  Wattson deploys both numbers and colours to show you how much electricity your home is using at any given moment. Wattson was conceived and designed by the young and enthusiatic London-based DIY Kyoto team.

With its built-in USB port and free to download 'Holmes' software, Wattson was the first energy monitor in the UK to allow analysis of domestic electricity consumption on your Mac or PC computer.

Unique features

Despite its designer good-looks the Wattson 01 isn't just an energy monitor in a posh frock.

Wattson brings new features to the home energy monitor market like built-in rechargeable batteries, micro-generation recording capability,  USB connection to PC/Mac and an innovative ambient lighting system which gives visual feedback on the amount of energy being consumed; cool blue for low energy, red warning for high use.  Average energy consumption produces a rather nice 'purpley-pink' glow.  We particularly like what we call the 'Doomsday Clock' mode, where Wattson will display your projected annual electricity charge based on current use.  Horrifying.

Economy 7 In yet another first for energy monitors, with the use of DIY Kyoto's free Holmes data analysis software, Wattson is able to separately monitor dual rate supplies like Economy 7 (extra sensor may be required for older systems).  The software can also be configured to calculate 'split' or 'no standing charge' tariffs which have become increasingly popular since deregulation.

How it works

If you're a bit of a technophobe don't worry because Wattson is really easy to install and even easier to use.

As with other similar devices, a sensor is clipped around your electricity supply and a battery powered transmitter beams information to your Wattson display to instantly show your current usage.  Wattson's sensor is very sensitive and will detect even minute changes in your electricity usage.  The supplied instructions are clear and easy to understand. The Wattson display unit is portable, so it can be located anywhere in your home as long as it's within range of the transmitter (up to 100 meters away through air, or 30 meters through buildings).

Wattson's rechargeable internal battery pack lasts up to three months between charges, depending on display mode.  Sustained use of the ambient lighting effects will naturally increase battery drain.  Maximum battery life is obtained in 'hibernation' mode.  A low power warning indicates when Wattson needs recharging.

Wattson Additional Sensor

Additional sensor for use with the Wattson 01 energy monitor.  You'll need two of these if you'll be using Wattson to monitor a three-phase supply.  Some older Economy 7 installations may also require an extra sensor for connection to the low tariff circuit.
