We're pleased to have sourced this new range of MR16 LED spotlights which are built using the latest chipsets from CREE, the XR-E and the new MC-E. Both these chipsets are of the highest quality, producing staggering amounts of light from minimal wattages, with very useable colour temperatures and excellent colour rendition.
Built to last and save you money
Our MR16 LED spotlights are designed as direct replacements for existing 12v low voltage halogen lamps in a wide variety of fittings. They are fitted as standard with a high grade glass 70 degree beam lens (other beam angles available) for a crisp, sparkling beam of light. These lamps use a fraction of the electricity required by standard halogen MR16 lamps, yet give out just as much light. Use of CREE LEDs indicates an extremely long service life of up to 50,000 hours and so over its lifetime, one of these LED lamps replaces approximately 25 standard MR16 halogen spotlights, whilst saving as much as 2,450kWh of electricity - that's over £250 at 10.5p per kWh!
Our MR16 LED spotlights are available in a range of equivalent wattages from 20w to 50w+ with beam angles of 50deg, 70deg and 100deg to suit your individual needs.
Don't confuse our new lamps with first-generation 'novelty' LED offerings using multiple low output 'honeycombed' LEDs and producing very little light, often too blue and too dim for practical use, these new MR16 LED lamps are simply stunning and will not disappoint!
Warm or Cool?
Our MR16 LED lamps are available in two colour hues, Warm White and Cool White. The single exposure image on the right is of a display cabinet with toughened glass shelves containing glassware. The two sides of the cabinet are isolated from each other to prevent light interference. You can see that there is a significant difference between the Warm and Cool white lamps. Because of the way the colour temperature of LEDs is controlled, the cooler lamps are more intense than the warm ones. Although we describe the two lamp hues as 'warm' and 'cool', the light from a Warm White lamp is similar to a standard halogen lamp. The Cool White lamps are not actually cold, they produce a pure brilliant white light, equivalent to natural daylight without any hint of 'blueness' with which older technology LED lamps have been associated.
For a standard 'halogen style' lighting effect and for general home use we advise the fitting of Warm White lamps. For a cleaner 'pure white' more modern look, or for display lighting where accurate colour reproduction is important, we advise use of the Cool White lamps.
Cree 9W 12V MR16 LED 480lm Spot (Warm White)
These MR16 LED spotlights manufactured by Leder incorporate 3 x 3 Watt Cree LED modules and claim an impressive 480 lumen output, making them equivalent to a standard 40 Watt incandescent lamp. With a beam angle of 45 degrees and a stated Warm White colour temperature of 3,000k, they should be a reasonably good match for replacing halogen MR16 lamps in a wide range of applications, including general lighting. Although the seller describes these LED lamps as a straight swap for ordinary halogen MR16 lamps, it may be necessary to change the low voltage transformer if the existing unit does not produce a stable 12 volt supply at lower loads.
Once again, this seller is describing these lamps as having a 50,000 hour lumen maintenance period. None of the branded manufacturers are making claims of such long life, so we'd advise against taking this figure seriously. We're also a little concerned that the seller of these lamps is declaring the same lumen output for both the Warm and Cool White versions of the same lamp. We'd expect to see the Warm White lamp as having a lower lumen output than its Cool White conterpart.

This is our latest MR16 LED spotlight. It still uses the industry-leading CREE MC-E LED module, but the unique finned heatsink design allows the module to be driven to 7w, generating even more light than our 4w lamps with a very wide beam. It's easily a match for a standard 50w halogen MR16 lamp, which it should outlast up to twenty five times over. This Warm White version has a wide 120 degree fixed beam of light, similar to an ordinary tungsten halogen MR16 lamp. It is a straight swap for an ordinary halogen MR16 lamp, although it may be necessary to change the low voltage transformer if the existing unit does not produce a stable 12 volt supply at lower loads.

MR16 12v LED spotlights draw only a fraction of the current of equivalent halogen lamps. This can cause problems with supply voltages of existing electronic transformers, where the output voltage may rise under low current draw. Our constant voltage 35 Watt LED driver module can power up to ten 3w LED lamps or eight 4w lamps wired in parallel and will ensure maximum service life from your LED lighting investment. Should be fitted by a qualified electrician or competent person.
